Julia Sarr-Jamois Style Crush

Since becoming Wonderland's Fashion Editor in November 2010, Julia Sarr-Jamois has been under the fashion radar as one of the world's most stylish editors. To me, her styling talent is almost on parr with Lula editor Leith Clark. What amazes me is that Julia has already had so much success at the age of 23! I love the way she mixes prints and plays with colour, both in her editorial work and her own wardrobe. She also shares my love of Christopher Kane, quirky sunglasses and hot pink.

You only need to look at the covers of Wonderland to see how much fun she brings to fashion. If this is what she can do at the beginning of her editorial career, who knows what the future could hold.

Inside My New Handbag

I have had my blog for almost two years now, so I thought it was about time I wrote a "what's in your bag" post! Plus I have been dying to show you my gorgeous new handbag which I am totally in love with! I bought it in the Topshop sale for £35 (was £68!) along with a floral dress which I got for half price as well. In my handbag you can find:
  • Oriental satin diary - to keep my busy life organised
  • House key with a Lego lady keyring - given to me by my brother years ago
  • Postcard purse - Where I cram in my Costa card, Boots card, Topshop card etc
  • Butterfly umbrella - You never know when it'll pour with rain in Scotland!
  • Topshop staff lanyard - must never forget!
  • I-pod - Filled with tunes from Elton John, La Roux, Kings of Leon, The Kinks etc
  • Liquid eyeliner - can't live without my flicks!
  • Brush/Mirror - Have to keep my signature fringe in place!

What items do you keep in your handbag?

Outfit du jour

Coat - ASOS
Handbag - Warehouse
Heels - New Look
Watch - ASOS

This is a completely new outfit of mine, which makes me feel very sixties chic! On days where I want to feel sophisticated this will now be my go-to coat and bag. My new handbag is so roomy, it rivals Mary Poppins's (had to mention her on my blog at some point!) I love that my mac looks so different to the average mac, with it's touches of boucle. I just had to show you all three angles!

I hope you are all having a good weekend. It's nice to have a Saturday off which isn't very common for a retail worker like me!

Shop Edit: Hyper Florals

Clockwise from left: Cropped trousers - ASOS £42 Shopper bag - Topshop £16 Dress - Zara £49.99 Platform heels - New Look £27.99 Dress - Topshop £60

Florals are always going to be in fashion during Summertime, but what makes it more interesting is the variety. This season my favourite take on floral print has to be what we call 'hyper florals' as seen at Mary Katrantzou and Prabal Gurung (see his amazing campaign video below). Think acid brights with kaleidoscope effects and you're on the right track. This eye-catching floral is certainly not for a wallflower!

What do you think of the trend? I'm dying to buy the Topshop dress you can see above.

From Stylist to Model

You may remember from previous posts that I am part of a style team led by Lynne McCrossan for the Edinburgh Evening News. Well, on the last shoot I ended up modelling too which was very exciting! The shoot was located at Hotel Missioni which is the most stylish and modern hotel I've ever seen. It was perfect for our fashion feature which was based on Edinburgh's top boutiques.

I had so much fun posing in the hotel lobby's window and in two of the beautiful bedrooms. The highlight had to be slipping into the floral Erdem maxi dress as Erdem is my favourite designer and his designs are so dreamy and romantic. I wonder if he'll ask me to model for his next catwalk show...

I was also pleased that I was featured on the cover of the Evening News (in the corner but still the cover!) It's strange to think that so many people will be looking at my modelling pictures in the paper and may even recognise me! I've already been in a newspaper, magazine and on TV for fashion purposes before, but it's always really exciting to get an extra 15 minutes of fame!

Stripe T-shirt dress, £51 @ Sam Brown
Leopard print trainers, £35 @ Lipsy
Gold cross necklace, £10 @ River Island

Silk floral maxi dress by Erdem, £1745 @ Jane Davidson

Moonbeam dress by Carolyn Baxter, £110
Studded boots, £75 @ River Island
Ripped jeans, stylist's own

I hope you like my pictures. I know my back looks boney on the main picture but it's only because I was asked to hunch my back as much as possible. It wasn't the most comfortable pose to hold but it definitely looks the most editorial.

What do you think of my modelling debut?
